In 1950 Idlewild Hall is a
local boarding school for troubled young women. With an indifferent staff, most
of the teens struggle to cope in the bleak walls of Idlewild. Their problems are
compounded by the fear of a restless spirit, who seems to have the knack of
knowing ones fears. A thread of kinship weaves around four girls, growing into a
bond of love and sisterhood. Although all their tales are woeful, one misfits
holds a key to a brutal past. As one of the foursome disappears, the trio is
left to wonder what horror befell their young friend.
In 2014 Fiona Sheirdan
still struggles over the murder of her sister, whose body was found on the
abandoned property of Idlewild Hall. Although her sister’s death appears to be
solved, Fiona still has unanswered questions that soon lead her into trouble.
But with journalism in her veins, she can only follow the shocking leads that
brings danger every closer and with it, the mysterious thread that binds the
past to the present at Idlewild Hall.
Lately I have found little time to read
but THE BROKEN GIRLS by Simone St. James caught my eye and I bought the book.
There is a little bit of everything in this tale, a ghost, a mystery, a murder,
and a love story. What is not to love? A perfect read on a cold winter’s night.
I highly recommend it.
